Before you can renew your NOCN Competent Blue Card, you have to pass the Health and safety test. If the last time you passed it was over 2 years ago, then you will have to take it again.

As an example, if today we are in March 2024 and you last took this test in February 2022 (or before) then you have to take it again.

It’s worth refreshing your memory by ordering the latest Health and Safety Study book with all the practice questions and answers.

  • You can order the Study Book with next day delivery HERE.
  • Then visit the Pearson Vue website and log in HERE.

NOTE:

If you’ve forgotten your username and password, it’s worth checking your emails from around the last time you took the test.

Then click on I have forgotten my password.

  • Once logged in, make sure that your personal details and address are still correct

Great, you’ve passed your Health and Safety Test. Now brace yourself for another one. 🙂

In order to renew your NOCN blue card you will HAVE to pass this touch screen renewal test for any categories that you want renewed. There is no way around it.

How do I know which test to take and renew my CPCS blue card?

  • First visit the NOCN renewal test tool to find out exactly which Test module you’ll need to take. Click HERE
  • Once on the NOCN website, select the categories that you want to renew. There are 51 categories like Excavator, Dumper, Appointed Person, Etc.
  • Click Next
  • On the next screen it will show you which test or tests to take.

Examples:

For the A17 Telehandler you’ll need to take the RT17 Telehandler renewal test

If renewing both A62 Crane/Lifting Supervisor and A40 Slinger Signaller, then you’ll just need to take one test which is the RT62 Crane supervisor.

In some cases you might need to take multiple tests. Take a note of the tests names.

  • If you click on the blue link (example: RT17 Telehandler) you’ll be able to download the corresponding Factsheet.

Unfortunately, this is what you’ll have to study before taking the renewal test. Most of them have 3 to 4 pages of loooooooooong and boring text.

But don’t worry I have prepared something nice and useful for you.

Do not worry, they will  send you an email with a new username and temporary password within 24 hours.

Step 3.

Complete your CPCS Logbook for Card Renewal

Price: Free if you print and bind it yourself

or £10.95 if you want a Logbook delivered to you

Hours: Fill in 300 hours per category

We choose this step because it is the easiest way to prove your experience and renew your blue card. If you don’t have the required experience for your category, then you will have to choose one of the other options:

But we will go with the Log Book Route.

Where to get my CPCS Logbook?

  • First of all you’ll need an official Construction Scheme Log Book. You can download one for free HERE.

Note that you will have to print and bind this yourself

How to fill in the CPCS Logbook?

  • Once you have your logbook, you’ll need to stick your photo and write your name on the first page
  • On the second page write your CPCS Card number, expiry date and sign it.
  • If you go over the next pages you’ll see an example of how to fill it in.

Note:

The combined hours for your category must be at least 300 hours.

You can have these on different sites and of course it will be easier if you’ve worked on one site for an extended period.

  • After the EXAMPLE page, you’ll have blank pages where you can put your own mark.
  • Write down your name and CPCS card number
  • Write the start date and finish date
  • Write the total hours on that site
  • Write your category

Note: If your category has special endorsements ( An example of Endorsement on A17 Telehandler would be: C – All Sizes EXCluding SLEW )

  • Write the site address and postcode
  • You will need your supervisor’s or manager’s full name.
  • This is very important. They will need to sign as proof of your hours.

What to do after I filled in the CPCS Log book for renewal?

  • Now that you have the 300 hours completed in your CPCS logbook, it’s time to keep it safe. Do not send it anywhere. If CITB want to verify it at any point in the future, they will ask for it.

If you need any help contact them by:
